1the9 was a South Korean boy band formed through the 2018 survival competition show Under Nineteen, which aired on MBC. Selected from a pool of 57 contestants, the final lineup of nine members was chosen based on audience votes and announced live on television. The group consisted of Yoo Yong-ha, Kim Tae-woo, Lee Seung-hwan, Shin Ye-chan, Kim Jun-seo, Jeon Do-yum, Jung Jin-sung, Jeong Taek-hyeon, and Park Sung-won. They made their debut under PocketDol Studio. Before their official debut, 1the9 released a promotional track titled "Domino," featuring the artist Crush. Their first EP, XIX, was released on April 19, 2019, and was promoted by the lead single "Spotlight." The group appeared on several shows promoting the release. This EP peaked at number 7 on the Korean music charts. Building on this initial success, they released their second mini-album Blah Blah later in 2019, which peaked at number 15 on the South Korean charts. However, the group's journey was abruptly shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to changes in their promotional activities. In 2020, 1the9 released their third mini-album, Turn Over, on July 16. Shortly afterward, they announced their impending disbandment, which took effect on August 8. They concluded their musical journey with the release of their final EP, Good Bye 1the9 later that year.
