1TYM

1TYM (pronounced ‘One Time’) is a South Korean group consisting of four members: Teddy Park (also known as Park Hong-jun), Oh Jinhwan, Song Baekyoung, and Danny Im (also known as Im Taebin). During the late 1990s, Yang Hyun Suk, the CEO of YG Entertainment, organized his trainees into a group called MF Family, a name inspired by the apparel brand Majah Flavah!, created by Sean from the Korean hip-hop group Jinusean. Initially, the group had seven members, but three of them later departed seeing Teddy, Danny, Jinhwan, and Baekyoung form 1TYM and make their debut in 1998 with the album One Time for Your Mind, which achieved immense success and becoming one of the best-selling albums of the year. It attained a gold certification, reached number 6 on the charts, and received several major awards, including Best Hip Hop Artist at the KMTV Music Award as well as Rookie of the Year at both the Golden Disk Award, and SBS Music Awards, respectively. Following their successful debut, the group released four more albums, namely 2nd Round (2000), Third Time Fo Yo' Mind (2001) as well as top 5 albums Once N 4 All (2003), and One Way (2005). These albums garnered further acclaim and recognition, earning 1TYM additional awards for Best Hip Hop Artist from KMTV and SBS. Although 1TYM never officially disbanded, they never returned to the industry after their 2006 hiatus due to Oh's mandatory military service.
