Agnez Mo

Agnez Mo – born Agnes Monica Muljoto in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 1, 1986 – is an urban and pop singer, songwriter, actress, fashion designer, and dancer. Alongside her multi-platinum sales, she is the most awarded artist in the history of Indonesia with 170 awards, including eight Panasonic Awards, 18 Anugerah Musik Indonesia awards, seven JPopAsia Music awards, and four MTV Indonesia Awards. She began her career in 1992 as Agnes Monica, releasing her first children’s album, Si Meong. She then released two more children’s music albums and hosted several popular children’s TV programs. At the age of 13, she embarked on an acting career in Indonesian soap operas and recorded tracks - “Pernikakhan Dini” and “Seputih Hati” - aimed at an older audience (both are featured on the Love Theme compilation). She then spent a year and a half recording her first teen adult album, And the Story Goes (2003). The album was certified double platinum and Monica received 10 Anugerah Musik Indonesia award nominations, winning three. Her next album, 2005’s Whaddup A.. ‘?!, outsold the previous album and went triple platinum. She continued her award-winning streak and maintained a strong presence on Indonesian television. Sacredly Agnezious was released in 2009 and sold in excess of a half-million copies, making it her best-selling album yet. In 2013, she released the compilation Agnes Is My Name, her final album as Agnes Monica and the last to be sung in her native Indonesian language. The album was also available free of charge with every large KFC combo meal. In 2013, she released the album Agnez Mo, the first under her new stage name and the first in English. Originally intended as demos to secure a U.S. deal, the album was eventually released only in Indonesia. Her second English-language album was X, released in 2017 and was her first to be released internationally. The album included the singles “Long As I Get Paid”, “Damn I Love You”, and “I Wanna Be Loved”. The track “Coke Bottle” featured Timbaland and T.I. but was left off of the International Edition of the album. In March, 2018, she was featured in Vogue Magazine U.S., and shortly after, she signed a deal with 300 Entrtainment. In 2018, Mo released the hit singles “Overdose” (featuring Chris Brown) and “Diamonds” (featuring French Montana). In June of 2020, Agnez Mo released the single “Promises”, with proceeds going to aid COVID-19 relief efforts.
