Alex Beaupain

French singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer Alex Beaupain (born Alexandre Beaupain in Besançon, France, on October 15, 1974) has enjoyed a dual career since the early 2000s, dividing his time between personal recordings and film compositions. He notably collaborated with director Christophe Honoré on the soundtracks to the films 17 fois Cécile Cassard (2002), Les Chansons d'Amour (2007), for which he won a César, Les Bien-Aimés (2011) and Les Malheurs de Sophie (2016). First noticed with the album Garçon d'Honneur (2005), he confirmed this with 33 Tours (2008), which won a Grand Prix from the Académie Charles-Cros. In 2011, his successor Pourquoi Battait Mon Cœur sees him collaborate with Jean-Philippe Verdin aka Readymade FC. His favorite theme, love, again shines through on his fourth personal album Après Moi le Déluge (2013), while his work for film is compiled the following year in the BO box set. In 2016, the fifth album Loin was released, following the children's book-disc Les Gens Dans l'Enveloppe. A composer for Alain Souchon, Françoise Fabian and visual artist Sophie Calle, in 2021 he produced his own version of Serge Gainsbourg's Love on the Beat, which he performed live with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra. He then returned to composing for the screen with music for the films Les Cadors (2023), Les Rois de la Piste (2023), Marcello Mio, in which he reunited with Christophe Honoré (2024), and Diastème's musical Joli Joli, with songs performed by Clara Luciani, Valentine Duteil, José Garcia, William Lebghil, Laura Felpin, Thomas VDB, Vincent Dedienne, Jeanne Rosa and Grégoire Ludig.
