Florent Marchet

Singer-songwriter and film composer Florent Marchet was born in Bourges, Cher (France), on June 21, 1975. He was just five years old when he began learning to play the piano. He then began his musical studies at the Bourges Conservatory of Music and Dance, before really starting his artistic career in 1996, alternating between performances in piano bars, on small stages, and as a musician in schools, psychiatric hospitals and prisons. At the same time, he perfected his guitar and bass technique, and learned the basics of mandolin and accordion. Thus prepared, in 2001 he recorded his first real songs in his home studio in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis), where he has now settled. The following year, he signed a contract with Barclay and opened his discography in 2004 with Gargilesse, on which the singer Miossec makes a guest appearance on the track "Je m'en tire pas mal". Three years later, the album Rio Baril (2007) was released, featuring contributions from Dominique A and Philippe Katerine. This was followed in 2010 by Courchevel, featuring Jane Birkin on the song "Roissy". After an album of Christmas carol covers(Noël's Songs in 2011), Florent Marchet returned in 2014 with Bambi Galaxy, a critically acclaimed album that failed to win over the general public. The Frère Animal project, which he had launched in 2008 with writer Arnaud Cathrine with the release of a book-disc of the same name, resumed in 2016 with a second opus entitled Second Tour. After that, Florent Marchet turned his attention to studio work, working alongside other artists (Calogero, Bernard Lavilliers among others) or on film scores. He did not resume his personal discography until 2022, with the album Garden Party (no. 77). The following year, Maisons Alfort revisits his repertoire in new piano/vocal versions.
