Discovered on Idol 2007, Swedish singer Amanda Jenssen quickly found success with her debut album Killing My Darlings, featuring the hit "Do You Love Me". Born Jenny Amanda Katarina Bengtsson in Lund on September 12, 1988, she started out singing in the bands Oh Ollie Neverdays, which won the Musik Direkt competition in 2007, and Amanda & the Papas, featuring a repertoire of covers and personal compositions. In 2007, the singer tried her hand at a solo career and entered the Idol 2007 competition, where she impressed with her vocal talent, finishing as a finalist. Signed by the Epic label, she immediately scored a national #1 hit with the song "Do You Love Me", followed by "Amarula Tree" (#4) and the album Killing My Darlings (2008), in which her voice blends soul, pop, rock and jazz. Two further hits were taken from the album, which reached No. 1 in the charts and went platinum. Without further ado, Amanda Jenssen returned to the studio to produce Happyland (2009), a double platinum album at No. 3, like its namesake. Three years later, Hymns for the Haunted, developing a cabaret jazz style with a mystical atmosphere, reached #2. Most of the songs are co-written with Björn Yttling, from the band Peter Bjorn and John. In 2015, Amanda Jenssen recorded an album sung in Swedish, Sånger Från ön. She returns in 2024 with the Christmas title, "Santa".
