Laleh

Born Laleh Pourkarim on June 10, 1982, in Bandar-e Anzali, Gilan, Iran, the singer, songwriter, musician, and producer is better known by her stage name of Laleh. Born in Iran, she relocated with her family to Sweden when she was eight years old. Originally pursuing a career in acting, she came to prominence in 2000 when she appeared in the hit film Jalla! Jalla! Laleh changed course and began her music career in 2003 and signed to Warner Music Sweden. She released her self-titled debut album in 2005, which was a critical and commercial success. With one Top 10 single, “Invisible (My Song),” the album reached the top of the Swedish Albums chart. She released two more successful albums – Prinsessor (number 3 / 2006) and Me and Simon (number 2 / 2009) – before having a career resurgence in 2012 with the release of Sjung, which was a massively successful album, reaching number 1 in Sweden and Norway and featuring the international hit “Some Die Young.” Her fifth album, Colors, was released in 2013 and peaked at number 2 in Sweden and number 4 in Norway. Laleh’s next album, Kristaller (2016), was another success and included the hit single “Bara få va mig själv.”aFurther hit albums include Vânta (number 4 / 2019), the download-only Postcards (2019), and Vatten (2022), which returned her once again to the top of the Swedish Albums chart. After the release of the 2022 single "Vi är på riktigt," a collaboration with Swedish singer Darin, she released the single “Framåt.” Over the course of her career, Laleh has won numerous awards including two Rockbjörnen Awards (2009), five Grammis Awards (three in 2005 and two in 2017), two P3 Guld Awards (2005), two Gayglen Awards (2012, 2017), the Swedish Publisher Prize, and three Swedish Radio Chart Awards (2017).
