Indian singer Ammy Virk was born Amninderpal Singh Virk on May 11, 1992 in Nabha, Punjab. Encouraged to sing by his mother, he would become one of the most popular actors and film singers of his era. He first began releasing albums with 2011’s Charndigarh Diyan Kudian and the follow-up, 2013’s Jattizm. He made his film debut in 2015’s Angrej, and captured the Best Debut Actor trophy at that year’s Punjabi Film Awards. 2016 would be the year that established him as a film star with an award-winning turn in Bambukat, and a huge box office success as the title character in Nikka Zaildar, a part he would return to in multiple sequels over the next few years. He would continue to release singles during this time, often from the movies in which he appeared such as “Lagdi Na Akh”, from Nikka Zaildar. In 2018 he starred in Qismat, which became one of the highest grossing Punjabi films of all time, and in 2019 he won industry honors for Best Song and Best Playback Singer for his work in Manmarziyaan. He continued to score hits outside of his film work including 2020’s “Taare Balliye”, which featured Sargun Mehta, and 2021’s “Khabbi Seat”, which featured Sweetaj Brar.
