Andrew Lambrou, an Australian singer of Greek heritage, made his mark on the music scene by representing Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023. Born on May 25, 1998 in Sydney, Australia, Lambrou's musical journey began early when he won a singing competition at the tender age of five. In 2015, he showcased his talent on The X Factor Australia, catching the attention of Sony Music representatives. Although Lambrou had collaborated on various projects prior to this, he had yet to release music under his own name, however in 2021, seized the opportunity to compete in the Australian Eurovision Song Contest pre-selection show Australia Decides. His entry, "Electrify," saw him finish in 7th place. Building on this momentum, Lambrou recorded electro-pop tracks "Throne," "Confidence," and "Lemonade" that same year. After Australia withdrew its pre-selection competition in 2023, Lambrou was selected instead to represent his Cyprus on the Eurovision stage. His performance of "Break a Broken Heart" led to him finishing in 12th place in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest held in Liverpool, with his song charting in several countries including Finland, Lithuania and the United Kingdom as well as Sweden where it peaked at number 6.
