Anja Harteros

Born on July 23, 1972 in Germany, soprano Anja Harteros was noticed for her vocal qualities by a music teacher in her teens. She gave her first concert in 1990 and embarked on a professional career at the Cologne Opera, which gradually took her to the world's greatest stages. The first German to win the Cardiff Singing Competition in Wales in 1999, Anja Harteros distinguished herself in major productions including La Bohème, Carmen, Falstaff, La Traviata and operas by Mozart(The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi fan tutte) and Wagner. In 2015, she recorded Aïda opposite Jonas Kaufmann in a version conducted by Antonio Pappano.
