Swedish singer and guitarist Anna Bergendahl entered television talent competition 'Super Troupers' in 2004 but it was not until her success on 'Swedish Idol' in 2008 that she became well-known. She finished in fifth place on the show, but such was her popularity that four of her songs made it into the Swedish Singles Chart in 2008: 'Release Me', 'Save Up All Your Tears', 'Bleeding Love' and 'Over the Rainbow'. Bergendahl achieved even greater recognition when she took part in Swedish song competition 'Melodifestivalen' in 2010. She released album 'Yours Sincerely' in 2009 which reached number one in the Swedish Albums Chart as well as gaining Gold status from the Swedish Recording Industry Association. The single 'This Is My Life' with which she entered 'Melodifestivalen' was taken from that album, and as the winner of that competition, became the Swedish entry for the 'Eurovision Song Contest' in the same year. The single also reached number one in the Swedish Singles Chart. Bergendahl released her second studio album 'Something to Believe In' in 2012 and it reached number 13 in the Swedish Albums Chart. After a break of nine years, she re-entered 'Melodifestivalen' in 2019 with the song 'Ashes to Ashes' which was also released as a single, achieved Gold from the Swedish Recording Industry Association and reached number 12 in the Swedish Singles Chart. Alongside her musical career, Bergendahl is studying to become a Doctor.
