The Finnish pop singer Anna Puu was born Anna Puustjärvi in Outokumpu in 1982. She rose to prominence through the 'Finnish Idols' TV franchise having been runner-up in the 2008 edition of the series. The following year she released her self-titled debut album which reached number one in the Finnish charts, as did the lead single from the album, titled 'C'est la vie'. The following year her second album 'Sahara' also went to number one but surprisingly none of the singles subsequently released managed to chart. Since these early successes her popularity as a singer has grown and she has continued to record albums at two or three year intervals. The last of these albums, titled 'Nälkäinen sydän', was released in 2018 and went straight to number one in the charts proving the singer has lost none of her appeal to Finnish audiences. Puu's most recent recording has been a collaboration single in 2020 with the singer Olavi Uusivirta simply titled '2020'.
