Building up her confidence on the Taichung City busking circuit in her youth, Taiwanese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Arrow Wei (born May 14th, 1990) earned her stripes as a live performer years before her music first hit streaming services. Doubling up as the lead singer for the band Arrow, she made strides as a soloist in 2017, emerging on the Mandarin-language folk-rock scene with her debut single “Lost Sun” and an album of the same name. One of the songs from the LP to get video treatment, "I Love You, Do You Love Me?”, proved to be a huge success, amassing over two and a half million YouTube views. Showcasing the album on tour and continuing to build her fanbase with a string of covers including renditions of A-Lin’s “A Kind of Sorrow” and Joyce Chu’s “I Miss You”, she made powerful allies in national superstars Sodagreen and Mayday, whose endorsements went a long way to bolstering her name recognition. Wei’s second album, Light in the Night Sky, landed in 2019, with “I Still Don’t Understand” serving as one of her biggest hits to date. Maintaining a prolific release cycle, she has since returned with a string of singles including the December 2020 number “Girl Told Me”, with her name gradually becoming synonymous with her country’s burgeoning alternative music scene.
