Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen is renowned for his unconventional way of playing the trumpet, giving the instrument a unique flute-like sound. He has also perfected his distinctive vocal range, with a head voice that allows him to sing up to soprano. He has played with many big names of Norwegian jazz including Misha Alperin, Terje Isungset and Jon Balke's Magnetic North Orchestra. He is also a main player in the avant-garde improvisational group Supersilent. He has released nine solo studio albums and appeared on more than a hundred records by artists including Arild Andersen, David Sylvain and Imogen Heap.
