Ash Grunwald - born Ashley Groenwald in Melbourne, Australia on September 5, 1976 – is an ARIA Music-nominated blues guitarist. His musical journey began when his grandfather taught him to play the guitar and bass when he was very young. He became interested in blues music and played in several local bands include the Blue Grunwalds – who released two albums – and the Groove Catalysts. After playing blues festivals in 2001, he released his debut solo album, Introducing Ash Grunwald, in 2002. The album was a critical success and earned him two Australian Blues Awards. His 2004 sophomore album, I Don’t Believe, was heavily influenced by Tom Waits and included two Waits cover versions. The album was another success and earned Ash Grunwald an ARIA Award nomination. His next album, Live at the Corner (2005), won him several awards and yet another ARIA Award nomination. His 2006 album Give Signs earned him his third ARIA Award nomination. And his career continued in that direction with each album earning more awards and an ever-expanding fanbase. Chart-wise, Ash Grunwald’s album began to climb higher on the albums chart – Fish Out of Water (2008), Hot Mama Vibes (2010), Trouble’s Door (2012), and Mojo (2019) all made the Top 40. In 2020, he released the album Push the Blues Away, a collaboration with Josh Teskey from the Teskey Brothers. After a two year wait, Ash Grunwald return with the single “Let Me Go”, his first new music in two years and his first solo material since 2019.
