Ateyaba

Real name Gilles Ateyaba Koffi Soler, Ateyaba was born on October 27, 1989 in Narbonne, Aude. The child of a Togolese mother and a father of Spanish origin, he grew up in Montpellier, where he discovered a passion for rap, influenced by artists such as Secteur Ä and Dr. Dre. He was spotted on the MySpace platform by Teki Latex, from the group TTC. Latex invited him to record his first street album in Paris. Entitled Prêt Pour l'Argent, it was released in 2009 to a lukewarm reception. Nevertheless, it reinforced the idea of Joke making a living from his passion for rap. A mixtape entitled Prêt Pour l'Argent 1.5 followed in 2011. Now a credible prospect for the French rap movement, he followed this up with two more EPs, Kyoto and Tokyo, released back-to-back in 2012 and 2013. The album Ateyaba, to which Dosseh notably contributed in 2014, validated his potential with audiences and critics alike. It was followed by the Delorean Music EP in 2015 and the Space Pack album in 2020. Long-awaited, the latter is preceded by the single "Moonwalk". After an EP called Infinigga in 2021, Ateyaba is back in 2023 with a second album entitled La Vie En Violet (n° 3), which includes the track "Ghana" in a duet with Young Nudy.
