Well-versed in genres such as progressive house, trance, and trap music, American DJ and producer Nathaniel Rathbun has been releasing music under the name Audien since 2009. Born on January 11, 1992, in New London, Connecticut, he first became infatuated with electronic dance music through video game soundtracks and later taught himself how to recreate tracks from Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance podcasts. While still a teenager, he was signed to Ferry Corsten's Flashover Recordings, which released his debut single "Rise & Shine" in 2009. After signing with Astralwerks in 2015, Audien reached the top of the US dance charts with the Lady Antebellum collaboration "Something Better," included in his major-label debut EP, Daydreams. During this time, the young DJ performed at some of the world's biggest festivals and landed residencies at several clubs in Las Vegas. This success was followed by another extended play titled Some Ideas in 2017 and his studio debut Escapism (2019), which featured the Top 10 dance hit "Favorite Sound" with indie pop band Echosmith. Following a series of non-album singles for Armada Music between 2020 and 2022, Audien returned to the charts with the Joe Jury collaboration "Drifting Away" (2022), an EDM-infused banger that hit Number 28 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart in the United States.
