Aurèle Marthan

Born in Paris on December 24, 1986, classical pianist Aurèle Marthan began learning the piano at the age of four and continued his training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, where he obtained a diploma in chamber music in the classes of Emmanuelle Bertrand, Éric Le Sage, Paul Meyer and Itamar Golan. He also studied at the Higher Institute of Cremona (Italy) and at the Royal Conservatory of Music in London, from which he graduated with a Master's degree. A pupil of Denis Pascal, Maurizio Baglini and Tatiana Sarkissova, he took Paul Coker's advice at the École supérieur de musique de Genève and took part in masterclasses. Following the release of his first album Ravel: Miroirs - Sonatine in 2012 and the founding of the Classic festival in Guéthary, of which he is artistic director, the pianist prepared for the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium, where he reached the quarter-finals in 2016. He performs from Europe to Asia, and records the chamber music collection The Mozart Project (2018) with the Hanson Quartet. In 2022, Aurèle Marthan signed with the Alpha Classics label and produced the album Guéthary, featuring Ravel's Concerto in G and pieces by Glass, Saint-Saëns, Stravinsky, Albéniz, Rameau, F. Couperin, Richter and the rock bands Eagles and La Femme.
