By combining the muscular aggressive of hard rock, the swagger of rap-rock, and the sugary melodies of modern pop, Autumn Kings built a grassroots audience for nearly a decade before earning their first genuine hit in 2024 with "Sleep When I'm Dead." The group formed nine years earlier in LaSalle, Ontario, where co-founders Jake Diab and Joe Coccimiglio met while working in a grocery store. With help from bassist Tibor Bognar and drummer Jeremie Brousseau, the teenagers launched Autumn Kings in early 2015 and quickly moved to Detroit, which became the band's home base. Inspired by Linkin Park and Fall Out Boy, the guys made their full-length debut with 2017's Silver Screen, earning fans with tracks like "If I Leave" and a hard-edged cover of Ricky Martin's Latin pop smash "Livin' La Vida Loca." The stand-alone track "ALIENS!" followed in 2018, and the group returned one year later with the Electrified EP. More singles followed throughout 2020, including "love let go," "POWER," "Asshole," and a cover of John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)." Those single releases continued into 2021 and 2022, with many of the songs reappearing on Autumn Kings' second full-length album, Book of the Broken, in 2022. The group showcased a more intimate approach with 2023's Unplugged Sessions (Deluxe Edition), then earned a genuine Billboard hit with 2024's "Sleep When I'm Dead," which debuted at number 39 on the Top 40 Radio Mainstream Rock Songs chart in April.
