Bakar is a London-based musician who grew up in Camden Town, an area rich in musical heritage and diversity. He was born as "Abubakar Baker Shariff-Farr" on February 12, 1994, and developed a musical appreciation for everyone from the American DJ Otis Jackson Jr. (better known as Madlib) to the British rock band Foals. Initially, by remixing samples from bands such as Bombay Bicycle Club and King Krule and promoting them on social media, Bakar began to build an audience for his work in 2015. In a relatively short time he made a significant impact on the UK music scene and garnered favourable comments from artists across the musical spectrum, including Elton John and the rapper Skepta. His first mixtape, Badkid, was released in 2018. The EP Will You Be My Yellow? followed in 2019 and featured the single "Hell n Back," which reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum in several countries. Nobody's Home, Bakar's debut album, followed in 2022 and reached number 31 in the UK. A second album, Halo, was released the next year and charted even higher, hitting number 15 on the UK charts.
