Balming Tiger is an alternative hip-hop collective from Seoul, South Korea. Formed in 2018, the group consists of nine members: Omega Sapien, Sogumm, Unsinkable, wnjn, Mudd the Student, San Yawn, Abyss, Henson Hwang, and Jan’Qui. Shortly after consolidating their lineup, Balming Tiger made their official debut with the single “I’m Sick,” which would enter the Korean Top 200 at Number 125 a few years later. It was followed by 2019’s “Armadillo,” a vibrant rap tune whose accompanying video won Music Video of the Year at the 2020 Korean Hip-Hop Awards. Even though their international touring plans came to a screeching halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Balming Tiger managed to stay relevant through the single “Kolo Kolo,” a viral success that was used in the incredibly popular charity initiative #hakunamatatachallenge. Following a high-profile collaboration with skateboarding shoes and apparel manufacturer Vans, the ambitious nine-piece returned with the single “JUST FUN!/LOOP?” in 2021.
