sogumm

The South Korean singer Kwon So-hee was born in Daejeon on March 8, 1994. She began writing alternative-pop songs during her early 20s, using her nickname from middle school, "Sogumm," as her stage name. "Suicide," a duet with rapper Tnom, marked her debut single in 2018. The following year, Sogumm released two different albums: Not My Fault, her collaborative record with the South Korean producer Dress; and Sobrightttttttt, her debut record as a solo artist. Both albums received nominations for "Best R&B Album" at the Korean Music Awards in 2020, with Sogumm being named "Rookie of the Year" at the same ceremony. Meanwhile, she contributed the song "Run" to the soundtrack of the South Korean TV series My Dangerous Wife that same year and released a string of non-album singles, including "Encourage," "Selfish," "My Taste," and "Yayouhoi." More non-album singles followed in 2021, from collaborations like "Imagine" (recorded alongside DJ Wegun and Hoody) to marketing campaign soundtracks like "Baennorae" (which was used in a tourism project named Feel the Rhythm of Korea, aimed at increasing awareness of South Korean traditions). Precious, Sogumm's second studio album, was released in late 2021 and earned another nomination for "Best R&B Album" at the Korean Music Awards. Two years later, Sobrightttttttt made a surprise return to the Top 100 Albums K-pop chart, where it reached number 46.
