Born on May 7th, 2002 in Seoul’s Mapo District, South Korean singer-songwriter Bang Ye Dam found himself landing high-profile singing opportunities from an early age thanks to growing up in a well-connected family of professional musicians. First making a name for himself as a child star, Bang recorded several songs for TV show Bboong bboong-E and anime Onegai! Samia-don when he was just five years old and later rose to prominence aged ten as a participant in the 2013 TV talent show K-pop Star. Finishing in second place in the competition, he managed to chart with four of his covers from the show, with his rendition of Tamia’s “Officially Missing You” peaking at #11 in his home country. After signing to Yang Hyun-suk’s YG Entertainment and appearing in various reality shows, he enrolled in the label’s talent contest YG Treasure Box, in which the label assembled the K-pop boy band Treasure. Bang was one of the entrants to successfully win a place in the new group. His debut solo single, “왜요 (Wayo)”, arrived in May 2020, reaching #10 on Billboard’s World Digital Songs Chart and #94 in Billboard’s K-pop Hot 100. Later the same year, Treasure launched their career as a group with a series of two-track singles, billed as miniature EPs in the run-up to their first album. Collectively amassing over 700,000 sales, the trilogy marked the most successful South Korean debut from a new artist in 2020. The full ten-track LP, entitled The First Step: Treasure Effect, landed in January 2021. He released a new EP Good Vibes in 2024.
