Barbara Pravi

Barbara Pravi, whose real name is Barbara Piévic, was born in Paris on April 10, 1993. Of Serbian and Iranian origin, she grew up in a family of artists, combining painting, literature and music. She writes all her own lyrics, and says she is as inspired by Barbara as she is by Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Françoise Hardy and Louis Aragon. In 2015, she signed her first contract with Capitol, and the following year performed "On m'appelle Heidi", the French version of the credits from the film Heidi. But it was above all through her role as Solange Duhamel in the musical Un Été 44 that she revealed herself, performing lyrics written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, Charles Aznavour and Maxime Le Forestier. A first EP, entitled Pas Grandir, was released in 2017, while at the same time she began a career as a TV actress. She then released two EPs in the space of a year, Reviens pour l'Hiver in 2020 and Les Prières in 2021, while writing for numerous artists, often in tandem with singer Igit. These include Yannick Noah, Julie Zenatti, Chimène Badi, Jaden Smith, Florent Pagny, Louane and Angelina. But her greatest success came by proxy, with Carla's "Bim bam toi" and Valentina's "J'imagine ", which were entered in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 and 2020 respectively, and ranked #5 and #1 in France. She then takes part in the Eurovision France show , C'est Vous Qui Décidez! and is chosen to represent France at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. She performed the song "Voilà", co-written and composed with Igit, and came second. That same year, she released her first proper album, On N'enferme Pas les Oiseaux, featuring the singles "Voilà", "Le Jour se lève" and "L'Homme et l'oiseau ", just a few months after the Les Prières EP. The latter was followed, also in 2021, by Les Prières - Racines, on which she collaborated with Lubiana, Irma and November Ultra. Barbara Pravi extended her concept of "prayers" in song with the release of the Prières - Guérir EP , unveiled in 2023. The following year, in September, she released her second opus, La Piéva, from which she extracted the single "La Piéva (Chez moi)".
