Basick is the stage name of South Korean rapper Lee Cheol-joo (August 12, 1986), who rose to fame after winning the fourth season of the rap competition Show Me the Money. Born in the city of Daegu, he made his debut in the Korean underground hip-hop scene as a member of the collective Jiggy Fellaz in 2008. That year, he released his first single “Better Than the Best.” In 2009, he formed the rap duo Double Trouble with bandmate Innovator. After dropping his self-titled studio debut in 2011 and a second full-length titled Foundation Vol. 3 in 2013, Basick took some time off from his music career to build a family and work in a sports fashion brand. Two years later, he made a comeback by competing on the fourth season of Show Me the Money, winning the first prize as part of the Brand New team alongside Verbal Jint and San E. His involvement in the show helped him land a record deal with Rainbow Bridge World, which released the EP Nice in 2016, followed by a handful of non-album singles during 2017. However, that wouldn’t be the end of Basick’s involvement with the show; in 2021, he made an appearance on the soundtrack of Show Me the Money’s tenth season with the track “Meeting Is Easy, Parting Is Hard,” which reached Number 91 on the Gaon Singles Chart.
