Beach Weather

The alternative pop band Beach Weather is best known for "Sex, Drugs, Etc.," a platinum-selling single that reached Number 1 on both the Billboard Alternative Airplay and Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts in late 2022. Nick Santino formed the band in 2015, after logging the better part of decade as frontman of A Rocket to the Moon. Working with producer and co-writer Sean Silverman, he unveiled his new project with the debut single "Wolf" that summer. Beach Weather's first EP, What a Drag, followed before the year was up. A second EP, Chit Chat, was released the next year, featuring a track list that included "Sex, Drugs, Etc." Despite its eventual success, "Sex, Drugs, Etc." was not a hit upon its initial release, and Beach Weather released one final EP — 2017's Basement Sessions — before embarking upon a long hiatus. During the interim, Santino got married and launched a new career as a graphic designer. The hiatus lasted a total of five years, during which time "Sex, Drugs, Etc." became a viral hit. The group was officially released to radio stations in 2022, and its popularity on social media platforms soon blossomed into an equally impressive showing on singles charts across the world, with the song eventually reaching the Top 40 in countries like Canada, Germany, and Greece. Boosted by such a warm reception for their back catalog, Beach Weather returned to the studio and recorded the full-length Pineapple Sunrise, which was released in 2023. By the following year, the group had begun making plans for a second record, releasing "High in Low Places" as the first single from the upcoming project. "High in Low Places" proved to be another hit, reaching number 40 on the Alternative Airplay chart that summer. After news versions of "Unlovable" with Pale Waves and "Thoughts I Have While Lying in Bed" with The Maine, the band released "High in Low Places", the first single of their sophomore album Melt (2024).
