Bell Marques, born Washington Bell Marques da Silva on September 5, 1952, in Salvador, Brazil, is a celebrated singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the frontman of the legendary axé band Chiclete com Banana. He began his musical journey in 1979, performing on his brothers' trio Os Elétrons, which became a staple of the Carnival scene in Brazil. In 1980, he officially joined the band Scorpius, which later became Chiclete com Banana in 1981. With the group, he achieved massive success, becoming one of Brazil's most influential figures in the axé music genre. After more than three decades with the band, he left Chiclete in 2014 and launched his solo career, debuting with the album Vumbora?! in 2014, which featured hits like "Nicolau" and "Amor Bacana." His solo career has seen him release several albums, including Forró do Lago (2015), Só as Antigas (2021), Vumbora pro Mar (2021), Ao Vivo no Fortal (2022), Vumbora Verão (2023), and Ao Vivo no Carnaval 2023 (2024), with continued success in the regional Brazilian music scene.
