Pop singer Bella Poarch first rose to fame as a social media personality before signing a record contract with Warner Brothers and releasing "Build a Bitch," her debut single as a pop artist, in May 2021. Born in the Philippines on February 8, 1997, she moved to America as a teenager and later served in the United States Navy. In April 2020, Bella Poarch began uploading content to multiple video-sharing platforms, which helped her build a global audience of music-loving millennials. Her lip-sync performance of British rapper Millie B's song "Soph Aspin Send" was uploaded that summer and became one of the most-played viral videos of all time. Heralded as a social media influencer, Asian-American activist, and budding pop musician, Bella Poarch signed with Warner Brothers and released "Build a Bitch" during the spring of 2021. Accompanied by a popular music video that featured other internet personalities, "Build a Bitch" became a Top 40 hit in New Zealand and the UK, while also climbing to Number 19 on Sweden's Heatseeker chart.
