Benjamin Wallfisch is an English composer of film soundtracks. He has worked on more than 70 films and his most notable soundtracks include those for 'Hidden Figures' in 2016 and in 2017 the soundtracks for Stephen King's 'It' and 'Blade Runner 2049', written with Hans Zimmer. Born in London his parents were both classical musicians and he started playing piano at the age of five. Since graduating in music he has been a highly successful soundtrack composer, conductor and orchestrator. In 2005 he composed his first film soundtrack for Lars von Trier's 'Dear Wendy'. Other films include 'The Escapist' (2008), 'Hammer of the Gods' (2012) 'A Cure for Wellness' (2016), 'Lights Out' (2016) and in 2018 'King of Thieves'. In 2015 he worked with producer Steven Spielberg on the short film 'Auschwitz'. In 2016 he collaborated with Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams on the score of the Oscar-nominated 'Hidden Figures', a film about black female mathematicians which earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score. In 2019 he composed the music for Neil Marshall's 'Hellboy' and the hit superhero film 'Shazam!'.
