Biagio Antonacci (born November 9, 1963 in Milan, Italy) is an Italian singer-songwriter. Learning to play the drums at an early age, Antonacci began to write songs, frequenting the Milanese recording scene in 1989, resulting in a recording contract. Achieving little commercial success with his debut album, Sono cose che capitano, Antonacci persevered, releasing two singles "Danza sul mio petto" and "Però ti amo" from his 1991 album Adagio Biagio, both which received considerable airplay. However, it was Antonacci’s 1992 catchy Summer hit “Liberatemi” (from his highly acclaimed album Liberatemi) that propelled him onto the Italian pop scene. In 1993, he performed “I Don’t Know Who to Believe Anymore” at the Italian Song Festival, finishing in eighth place. After finishing a successful tour, Antonacci returned to the recording studio, releasing 1994 self-titled album Biagio Antonacci, attaining multi-platinum status, a feat only surpassed by his sixth studio release, the diamond-certified Mi fai stare bene, which included the 1998 hit single “Iris” and charting for two years. In 2001, Antonacci was awarded the prestigious Lunezia Prize for his lyrics to “The Things You Loved the Most” and in 2004, his song “Vivimi” was recorded by popular Italian singer Laura Pausini. Released over the course of two years, double album Convivendo earned Antonacci the award for Best-Selling Italian Artist at the 2005 World Music Awards in Los Angeles. Antonacci’s popularity continued to rise, with 11th studio album Vicky Love peaking at number 1 on the charts. In January 2012, a concert documentary was released, followed by a special cinema event in April, where Antonacci presented a special screening of unreleased songs from his album Sapessi dire no. Maintaining a strong social media presence and connection to his fans, Antonacci continued to release albums between 2014 and 2019: L’Amore Comporta (2014), Dediche e manie (2017) and Chiaramente visibili dallo spazio in 2019, embarking on an Italian tour in 2022.
