Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where she joins the ranks of fellow St. Louis hip-hop dynamos Nelly, Akon, and Tiffany Foxx, Big Boss Vette aka Diamond Alexxis Smith cut her teeth covering rap songs on Facebook and went viral in 2015 after creating her own version of Dej Loaf's "Try Me." She was shot at a party the following year, which temporarily derailed her career, but she returned in 2019 with trap tune "Dog Ass Nigga" and an even bigger follow-up, "Outside," in 2020, having signed to Republic Records following the online success of "Bad Bitch" on YouTube. A string of other singles followed, including 2021's "No Fakin" and "Eater," before 2022 saw her career skyrocket following "Heavy" and "Snatched," with the latter single going viral after it was posted by Kylie Jenner, among others.
