Bloodbound

Formed in 2004 in Bollnäs, Sweden, Bloodbound are a Scandinavian power metal band whose aggressive, hard-hitting music often references the American fantasy TV series Game of Thrones. The group was co-founded by keyboardist Fredrik Bergh and guitarist Tomas Olsson, both of whom previously performed together in Street Talk. Joined by original vocalist Urban Breed, the musician released their debut album, Nosferatu, in late 2005. Urban Breed left the lineup after Nosferatu's release and was briefly replaced by Michael Bormann, who handled lead vocals on Bloodbound's second album, Book of the Dead, in 2007. Bormann never performed a live show with the band, however, and Breed rejoined the lineup shortly after Book of the Dead's release. From festival performances to international tours, Bloodbound's shows were hailed as spectacles of sight and sound, with the band's members often wearing corpse paint makeup and playing alongside a full symphony orchestra. Following 2009's Tabula Rasa, Breed left the lineup once again and was replaced by Patrik Selleby, who made his debut of 2011's Unholy Cross. Selleby remained the band's frontman throughout the 2010s, a decade that found Bloodbound taking more and more influence from Game of Thrones. Albums like 2014's Stormborn, 2017's War on Dragons, and 2019's Rise of the Dragon Empire featured lyrics that detailed many plot lines from the popular TV series. This interest in medieval fantasy continued during the 2020s, influencing albums like Creatures of the Dark Realm (2021) and Tales from the North (2023), which peaked at number 35 in Germany. 2024 saw the release of live album The Tales of Nosferatu - Two Decades of Blood (2004 - 2024).
