Bobby Raps

Born Robert John Richardson on December 22, 1992, in St. Paul, Minnesota, American rapper, singer-songwriter and producer Bobby Raps first jumped to fame in the mid-2010s as a member of the hip-hop collective Thestand4rd. Known for his left-field production style and introspective lyrics, he began rapping and producing beats during his high school years and self-released his debut mixtape, Gimme Daps, in 2011. The next few years found the Minnesota MC opening for the likes of E-40 and Too $hort and joining forces with local artists Allan Kingdom, Corbin, and Psymun to form Thestand4rd in 2014. Their eponymous studio debut appeared later that year and was supported through a series of sold-out shows across the United States. Bobby Raps resumed his solo endeavors with 2015's Wicked City, a collaborative mixtape with producer SinGrinch, and went viral in 2016 after featuring on the Hamburger Helper viral mixtape, Watch the Stove. Released in 2017 via Republic Records, his major-label debut Mark garnered critical praise and featured contributions from producers Shlohmo and D33J. After issuing the mixtape Weird Lil World in 2018, Bobby Raps spent the following years producing for established rap artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Future, and Gunna, and returned in 2021 with his sophomore effort, not scared enough. In 2023, his Skrillex collaboration "Leave Me Like This" peaked at Number 15 on Billboard's Hot/Dance Electronic Songs Chart.
