Formed in 2012, Bon Entendeur is a French electronic trio consisting of Arnaud Bonet, Pierre Della Monica, and Nicolas Boisseleau. They began their career by creating numerous digital mixtapes that merged electronic music with funk, disco and hip-hop. The mixtapes often feature soundbites from leading French cultural figures such as Jacques Chirac, Pierre Niney, and Richard Bohringer. They released their first mixtape, The Rendezvous, in 2013. Their 2015 mixtape Cluzet was a breakthrough track on social media. In 2017, Bon Entendeur produced a series of remixes of traditional French songs, and monthly mixtapes have been devoted to the likes of Serge Gainsbourg, Alain Delon and Gérard Depardieu. In 2019, the trio released their first official debut album Aller-Retour which featured the single “La Rua Madureira”, originally sung by Nino Ferrer. Bon Entendeur had scheduled a tour in 2020 to support their album and mixtapes, but it was cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic. Frustrated by their inability to tour, the group spent the next 18 months releasing a total of six more mixtapes – now numbering more than 50 in total – and worked on their second album. In June 2021, Bon Entendeur released their sophomore album, Minuit, which reached Number 14 on the French Albums chart.
