The five female members of BOYS WORLD first found fame via video-sharing phenomenon TikTok in 2019 and unleashed their debut single "Girlfriends" the following year. With the R&B-tinged candy-pop sugar-rush of "Girlfriends," the LA-based all-singing, all-dancing social media sensations – comprising Elana Caceres, Olivia Ruby, Queenie Mae, Lillian Kay and Makhyli – delivered a powerful message about female friendship and solidarity that became an instant hit online and quickly raised their profile from TikTokers to bona fide popstars. BOYS WORLD – with the BOYS part standing as an acronym for Best of Your Self – initially caught the attention of KYN Entertainment company directors after members were discovered singing online. Forming in April 2019, their existence was kept under wraps until January 2020 when a big reveal took place on social media. Following the release of "Girlfriends" in 2020, 2021 saw the release of two more talked-about singles: the catchy '90s R&B and '00s pop-flavored "Wingman" and rap-tinted "Tiptoe," which were both featured on the group's While You Were Out EP of that year.
