Brett Young may be a newcomer to the American country scene but he has made a big impact in a very short time and is seen as one of the rising stars in US country music. Born in 1981 his early career aspiration was to be a pitcher in professional baseball. Unfortunately an elbow injury sidelined his dreams of becoming a sportsman and baseball's loss became country music's gain when the young singer-songwriter released his first EP in 2016. In 2017 the up-and-coming country star enjoyed a stellar year with three singles going to number one in the US Country Charts with his debut major label album 'Brett Young' going to number two and being certified platinum in the process. He has since become the recipient of numerous country music industry accolades including being awarded New Male Vocalist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2018. Young cites singer Gavin DeGraw as a major influence in his music and has also mentioned the influential singer-songwriter Jeremy Steele as being a source of inspiration for his writing.
