Bright Light Bright Light

Born on 30 October 1982 in Neath, West Glamorgan, Bright Light Bright Light is the stage name of Rod Thomas; a Welsh singer, songwriter, and producer known for his neon-lit electro-pop aesthetic. He began his career after moving to London in the 2000s, where he later cut his teeth as a busker and set up a home studio in 2009. That same year, with his creative vision now starting to take shape, he sent some demo tracks to famed US producer Boom Bip, who helped him to further refine his sound. The name Bright Light Bright Light, taken from a quote in the 1984 classic film Gremlins, reflects his love of 1980s pop culture and nostalgia. His first single as Bright Light Bright Light, "Love Part II," arrived in 2010 on the Popjustice Hi-Fi label, with two more following in 2011: "Disco Moment" and "Feel It." 2012 saw the release of his debut album Make Me Believe in Hope, which lit the match for a glittering slack of nu disco-indebted albums, including 2014's Elton John-featuring Life is Easy and the guest-packed Fun City, a number-one hit on the UK Dance Album chart in September 2020. The LP featured contributions from Andy Bell of Erasure, Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters, and more. His fifth studio album Enjoy Youth was released in May 2024 on YSKWN! records, propelled by the first single "I Don't Know What I'm Gonna Do," which first surfaced in November 2022. Ultra Naté and Mykal Kilgore were among the guest stars.
