Born in France in 1963, Bruno Cocset is a cellist who specializes in the interpretation of baroque music. He is recognized as one of the most influential cellists of the century and is responsible for the rediscovery of forgotten composers such as Jean-Baptiste Barrière and Evarist Felice Dall’Abaco. Bruno Cocset studied successively at the Regional Conservatory of Tours, at the Higher Conservatory of Lyon, then at the Higher National Conservatory of Paris. He perfected his instrument and baroque repertoire when he studied under Dutch masters Anner Biljisma and Jaap Schröder. Bruno Cocset performed with ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants, La Petite Bande, the Baroque Orchestra of Limoges, and many others before founding his own ensemble, Les Basses Réunies in 1996. Bruno Cocset and his ensemble have recorded many album since their formation including Bach: 6 Suites a Violoncello Solo Senza Basso (2002), Frescobaldi: Canzoni (2005), Gabrielli: La Nascita del Violoncello (2011), Vivaldi: Concerti (2013), and the four CD set Cello Stories (2016).
