The daughter of Turkish musician Ali Güneş, Izmir-born folk-pop singer-songwriter Burcu Güneş began performing jazz and pop songs at hotels and resorts with her father as a teenager. In 1998, she kickstarted her own recording career with the energetic single “Alimallah” and debut album, Aşk Yarası, which featured contributions from prominent Turkish musicians. Güneş made her mark with albums Tilsim (2001) and Ay Sahit (2004), which featured hit singles "Sahilden", "Ay Sahit" and "Son Mektup”. 2006 saw the release of the Ben Ates Ben Su album, and in 2008 Güneş offered a modern electronic update to her oeuvre with remix album Burcu Güneş on the Club. After being a household name in popular music for over a decade, a folk album titled The Sun of Anatolia surfaced in 2018. In 2020, Güneş released a number of singles, including “Benim Hala Umudum Var / Ah Bu Ben” and “Bir Kadin”.
