The Calimeros are a Swiss pop band founded in 1976. The idea of forming an entertainment band was born in the Uetendorf sports club. In the early days, the Calimeros consisted of Roland Eberhart, Kurt Wyss and three other musicians. Initially, the band only played at regional festivals and celebrations. As a result, they gained a good reputation within a few years. In 1983, the Calimeros released their debut album Sommerwind. The single "Du bist wie die Sterne" ("You are like the stars" ) is still one of the band's classics today. The entire album goes platinum. Further albums were subsequently released, all of which were placed in the Swiss charts, including Their Golden Successes (1985, 9th place), Give Me Your Hand (1991, 20th place) and Because My Heart Misses You (2011, 40th place). From the 2010s onwards, the Calimeros became increasingly well-known throughout the German-speaking world. The 2012 album Für immer und ewig makes it into the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the first time. In 2015, the band achieved their first number 1 success in Switzerland with Sommersehnsucht. A year later, Schiff ahoi climbed to the top of the charts in Switzerland and Austria. It reached number 2 in Germany and went on to achieve further number 1 successes in German-speaking countries. In 2019, the album Endlos Liebe made it to the top of the German charts for the first time. The pop band's success continues unabated. In 2024, the Calimeros hit another number 1 in Switzerland with Shalala. In Germany and Austria, the album climbs to number 3.
