Johann Ernst "Hansi" Hinterseer (born February 2, 1954 in Kitzbühel) is a pop singer, actor, presenter and former ski racer from Austria. In his career as a skier in the giant slalom and slalom disciplines, Hansi Hinterseer won six World Cup races, a World Championship medal and the giant slalom World Cup ranking in the 1972/73 season. He was twice downhill world champion of the "Pro Tour". After sport, Hansi Hinterseer has devoted himself primarily to music since 1994 and is considered one of the greats in the field of popular music. The former sportsman's musical talent was discovered by music producer Jack White. With his debut single "Du hast mich heut' noch nicht geküsst", Hansi Hinterseer appeared on the successful popular TV show Musikantenstadl in 1994. His debut album Wenn man sich lieb hat climbs to number 29 in the charts in Austria and reaches platinum status. Hansi Hinterseer subsequently releases regular albums and quickly becomes one of the most popular artists in the field of folk music. At the same time, he also began working as an actor and TV presenter. With his albums So ein schöner Tag (2005), Meine Berge, meine Heimat (2006), Ich hab dich einfach lieb (2009) and Heut' ist dein Tag! (2013), he celebrated number 1 successes in Austria and Germany. In 2010, Hansi Hinterseer made it to number 1 in the Danish charts with the double album The Danish Collection, knocking Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas off the top spot. The folk music singer went on to release further hit albums in Denmark. Hansi Hinterseer releases over 30 studio albums and achieves gold or platinum status over 30 times in total. The artist is showered with awards, including the Golden Romy (1998), the Crown of Folk Music several times, the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria and the Medal of Merit as well as the Decoration of Honor of the State of Tyrol.
