Andy Borg – born Adolf Andreas Meyer on November 2, 1960, in Vienna, Austria – is a schlager singer and television host. Originally trained as a car mechanic, he competed on the Austrian talent show The Great Chance in 1981, where he was discovered by schlager songwriter Kurt Feltz. Andy Borg’s 1982 debut single, “Adios Amor,” which reached the Number 1 position in Austria and Germany, where it stayed on the charts for 39 weeks. The single was a hit in Switzerland as well, climbing to the Number 2 position on the singles chart. Andy Borg continued to release a series of Top 30 singles – “Arrivederci Claire” (1982), “Weil Wir Uns Lieben” (1983), and “Lang’ Schon Ging Die Sonne Unter” (1984) – and ended up with a total of 14 charting singles up through 1993. His albums also charted, the most successful being Adios Amor (1982), Zärtliche Lieder (1984), and Gabentisch der Lieder (1984). Later albums in his career include the best-selling 2020 release Es War Einmal - Lieder Die Gechichten Erzählen. When his charting hits dried up, Andy Borg continued to record music, but he also turned his attention to hosting TV shows including Musikantenstadl and Schlager-Spass with Andy Borg.
