Born on 17 October 1989 in Mayfield, near Edinburgh, Scottish singer-songwriter Callum Beattie was fed a diet of classic songwriters like Rod Stewart from a young age and fixed his sights on music at 14 when his dad bought him a guitar. He started writing songs and handing out demos at gigs, propelled by a strong DIY ethic and the hi-vis jacket he wore for his job pushing trolleys at the local supermarket. It wasn't long before he started to get noticed and released his first single, "We Are Stars," in 2017, striking a universal chord with his authentic songs about everyday life. In 2019, his career skyrocketed when his anti-Brexit and Conservative Party song "Boris Song" went viral, paving the way for the success of his 2020 debut album People Like Us, which reached number 68 on the UK Albums Chart and shot to the top of the Scottish chart. The album was re-issued the following year with five newly recorded tracks added. His second album Vandals came out in 2023 via 3 Beat Records and once again topped the Scottish chart, also peaking at number 22 on the UK Albums Chart.
