Camilo Sesto is a Spanish singer-songwriter and drummer who achieved international fame with popular Latin pop albums with his compositions being recorded by several other Spanish artists. Born in south-eastern Spain, he first garnered attention with his band Los Dayson in the 1960s. He began releasing singles under his own name in the 1970s and gained exposure on Spanish television. He released an album titled 'Amaneciendo' in 1975, his single 'Quieres Ser Mi Amante' (1975) was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Latin Recording and he appeared in a Spanish-language production of the Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical 'Jesus Christ Super Star' in Madrid. The title track from his 1977 album 'Algo de Mi' gave him his first chart success in his homeland and other Spanish-speaking nations. More releases followed and in 1985 'Tuyo' went to number five on Billboard's Latin Pop Albums Chart as did 'Agenta de Baile' the following year. 'Amor Libre' (1988) topped the chart, 'El Amor de Vida' (1990) reached number 15, 'A la Voluntad del Cielo' went to number two and 'Huracan de Amor' (1993) peaked at number 25. Other recordings include 'Jesucristo Superstar' (1998), 'Alma' (2003) and 'Numero 1' (2004). He announced his retirement from studio recording in 2008 following an international tour in 2009, which produced the live album and DVD 'Todo de Mi' (2010). Subsequent releases featured remastered versions of earlier tracks including '20 Grandes Exitos' (2012) which reached number seven on the Latin Pop Albums Chart, 'Sus Favoritus' (2014) number 18, 'Camilo 70' (2017) number eleven and in 2018 he released 'Camilo Sinfóico'.
