Capsule

Capsule is a Japanese electronic band formed in Kanazawa 1997 by singer Toshiko Koshijima and producer Yasutaka Nakata. The J-pop duo made its debut with the full-length album High Collar Girl in 2001. Inspired by the Shibuya-kei movement, albums like 2003's Cutie Cinema Replay and 2004's S. F. Sound Furniture earned the band a devoting following, as well as a growing presence on Japanese television shows and assorted advertisements. After shifting their focus to electro house music during the mid-2000s, Koshijima and Nakata turned Capsule into a Top 10 act with 2008's More! More! More!, which reached Number 6 on the Oricon Weekly Albums chart. Player, the duo's follow-up LP, climbed to Number 4 in 2010, with 2011's World of Fantasy hitting Number 3 in 2011. After releasing Caps Lock in 2013 and Wave Runner in 2015, Capsule took a multi-year hiatus from both the road and the recording studio. "Hikari no Disco," the duo's first single in six years, was released in 2021, followed by the album Metro Pulse in 2022. Metro Pulse reached Number 23 in Japan.
