Born Franck Hueso in Poitiers, France in 1977, the darkwave / synthwave artist is better known by his stage name Carpenter Brut. First coming to prominence in 2012, he has become a popular figure in the darkwave scene while maintain his privacy and adding an air of mystery to his on-stage persona. Influenced by artists like Toto, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative, and composers John Carpenter, John Williams, and James Horner, he started creating music with the intention of mixing horror movie soundtracks with metal, rock, and electronic music. He released three EPs – EP 1 (2012), EP II (2013), and EP III (2015 – before compiling them together on the album Trilogy (2015). Carpenter Brut released his next album, Leather Teeth, in 2018, and followed that with his soundtrack to the motion picture Blood Machines (2020). The album Leather Terror was released in 2022 and reached Number 37 on the French Albums chart.
