Chancellor

Chancellor, aka Michael Kim, is one half of the production and songwriting duo Duble Sidekick as well as an R&B and neo-soul singer-songwriter making waves on his own. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Chancellor, whose birth name is Kim Jung Seung, was moved to Los Angeles, USA and raised there from an early age. Music runs deep in the family and his father Kim Sang-Bok played bass in a Korean rock band from 1981 to 1987. Kim cites his father as an early influence, though it was R&B that would have a greater impact on his career. In 2010, at the age of 24, Kim began a short-lived stint with South Korean R&B/hip-hop group One Way, but his time with the group was short. Kim had also begun writing and producing K-pop songs with lyricist Park Jang Geun under the moniker Duble Sidekick and in 2011 he left One Way to focus on his efforts in the production booth. Duble Sidekick got a shot in the arm with the release of MBLAQ's 2012 EP '100% Ver', which the pair produced, and later in the year they expanded to form their own label, Duble Kick Entertainment. By 2016 Kim was back in front of the mic, performing under the name Chancellor as both a solo artist and with his band The Channels. His first solo album, 'My Full Name' was released that year and in 2019 he released the song 'Angel'.
