Charlotte Wessels

Charlotte Wessels was born on May 13, 1987 in Zwolle, the Netherlands. She is a Dutch singer and songwriter who is best known as the former frontwoman of the symphonic metal band Delain, which she was a member of from 2005 to 2021. During this time, she released six studio albums with the band, including the successful Lucidity (2006), April Rain (2009) and Apocalypse & Chill (2020). Charlotte Wessels' musical style moves between symphonic metal, alternative pop and indie rock. After leaving Delain, she embarked on a solo career and released her first solo album Tales from Six Feet Under in 2021. She continued this project with Tales from Six Feet Under, Vol. II (2022). Her music as a solo artist is characterized by a wider stylistic range, from melancholic pop to synth-infused rock. In 2024 she released her third album The Obsession. Charlotte Wessels often works alone in her home studio, where she writes, produces and records many of her songs herself.
