Danish singer-songwriter Chief 1 was born Lars Pedersen in 1970 and at the age of 17 helped to found Rockers By Choice, the first Danish rap group to appear on MTV. He is the son of Jan Pedersen, the drummer from the Danish pop band the Cliffters who had some success in the early '60s. His brother is Per 'Dee Pee' Pedersen, a well-known rap artist who was influential in introducing his brother to hip-hop and rap. During the '80s and '90s Pedersen concentrated on working with other artists as a writer, remixer and producer, and many of Denmark's up-and-coming musicians as well as numerous international artists have benefited from his talents. These include Ace of Bass, The Dreams, Smokie, Jennifer Paige and many others. Despite all his years of musical experience, it wasn't until 2016 that Pedersen released his first solo single titled 'You Must Die a Little (Before Finding Your Way)', followed by 'Summer Nights' which was a hit later that year. In 2017 The Pedersen wrote 'Vente Pa' Ca', a song which has now defined his career after it was recorded by Ricky Martin and Maluma. The song effectively re-booted Martin's worldwide appeal and has gone on to accrue more than a billion views on YouTube.
