The American R&B singer Christina Milian was born Christine Flores in New Jersey City in 1981. She is of Cuban origin and was raised in Maryland where, throughout her teenage years, she harboured ambitions to become a professional singer. At the age of 19 her dreams were realised when she signed to the Def Jam label and released her self-titled debut album. The album spawned stand-out tracks 'When You Look at Me' and 'AM to PM' both of which were top three hits in the UK and charted well in the States. Milian's singing career continued to go well and she released her follow-up album 'It's About Time' in 2004. The album received a mixed critical reception although the lead single 'Dip It Low' did well and has been the singer's most successful release to date reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Her third album 'So Amazin'' was released in 2006 and again received mixed reviews, over the next few years Milian concentrated on developing an acting career and took a break from the music business. She has subsequently enjoyed a successful career as an actress, TV presenter and businesswoman but returned to music in 2015 with the release of an EP titled '4U'.
